Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
On Thursday, April 22nd, 2021, we were notified of a parishioner who had just been tested positive. This person had attended Sunday Mass on April 18th, 2021.
All MKN SOP requirements were strictly complied with, by our parish and by this parishioner. As per our parish’s usual practice in adherence to the SOPs, the church was sanitised immediately after all Sunday Masses.
Please note that the MOH has established criteria for identifying close contacts and only close contacts will be contacted for mandatory testing and given a Home Surveillance Order to quarantine themselves. The close contact notification process is ongoing.
In view that all the SOPs were adhered to, there is no need for all parishioners to be tested unless you have been contacted by the MOH. However, should you develop any symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g. loss of sense of smell/taste, respiratory difficulties, flu-like symptoms, fever), please call the MOH Crisis Centre Hotline at the following number: 03 8881 0200/0600/0700. Kindly contact the Parish Response Team at 016 584 1154 should you have parish related queries.
We continue to work closely with the health authorities and the Archdiocesan Crisis Management Task Force on this matter. We ask that you lift this parishioner and their family up in prayer and protect their privacy during this difficult time.
Our church remains open for Masses in accordance with the Chancery Notice issued on April 15th, 2021. Parishioners are reminded that the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation remains dispensed by the Archbishop.
If your current health status defines you as high-risk, we encourage you to follow Masses on our YouTube channel. Parishioners and immediate family members (staying in the same house) who are unwell, are reminded to consider the common good and refrain from coming to church.
We strongly urge all parishioners to continue to be vigilant by observing the 3 W’s (wash/sanitise your hands, wear a facemask, watch your distance) and avoiding the 3 C’s (close, confined and congested areas).
